What is Kirtan?

Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting that involves call and response singing, where a leader sings a line or verse and the group responds. Rooted in the Bhakti Yoga tradition, Kirtan is a powerful practice for connecting with the divine and fostering a sense of community. The repetitive nature of the chants and the shared energy can help participants move into a meditative state, open their hearts, and experience a deep sense of unity and joy.

Welcome to Easy to play kirtan mantras, my aim here is to give you a basic idea of how to play some simple mantras on Harmonium to aid and inspire you on your chanting path, You do not have to be a musical genius, not even close. Mantra playing is for everyone, Its a great tool to relax the mind and connect to the Divine. This is from my personal journey and offered humbly with love.

Vanessa was first introduced to mantra when she was living in a plant medicine community in Costa Rica. Her teacher, who had spent time in India, gracefully shared her devotional practice with Vanessa. Her journey then took her to Australia, where a chance meeting with a group of Hare Krishnas led her to a kirtan at a yoga studio, where she had her first experience of Krishna Darshan.

After relocating to the UK, Vanessa found a teacher, Nikki Slade, and began her journey as a Bhakti and Kirtanee. She has been leading Kirtan in Costa Rica and the UK since 2018, from weekly Kirtans at her house to yoga retreats, festivals, and spiritual events.

She is a dedicated Bhakti yogi and follows a path of devotional service. Learning from other great Bhakti Yogi's such as Radhika Das, Krishna Das, Shivani Mata Francis, Govind Das and many more. She is always the student and open to continuously learn.
